A couple of weekends ago we headed for a day trip to Brisbane, which is about an hour away. I've been to Brisbane before but there is always more to expore. It's one of my favourite places in Queensland, full of the river, bridges and big green spaces and the cafes there are always so cozy, with excellent food.
We spent the day exploring the botanical gardens, and then wandered to Southbank to get some donuts and explore. The botanical gardens are brilliantly landscaped, with every garden kept with outstanding detail. My favourite gardens are the indoor tropical dome, which is green, peaceful and tranquil - with a huge reflective pool in the middle; The fernery, which is lush and overflowing with my favourite plants and the curious and quirky cactus garden.
Southbank is such a dynamic and vibrant part of the city. It is home to the arts and museum presinct along with the performing arts college and loads of riverside shops and cafe's. Craig loves doughnuts, so we grabbed some from dougnut time for him and my parents (who we were visiting later). They have jaw droppingly interesting flavours like cherry ripe, which we got along with nutella and traditional glazed. They smelled pretty damn good, and apparently they tasted amazing too. No one was game to try the peanut butter and bacon flavoured donuts. I can't blame them.
